Service in God's Kingdom

Service is one of the fundamental aspects of the Christian life. When we come to faith in Jesus Christ, we not only receive salvation, but we also receive a calling to serve. Mark 10:45 speaks of Christ, who came to serve:

Mark 10:45

"For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many."

This quote emphasizes the essence of service — to serve, not to be served.

When we talk about service, it's important to understand that it's not just about fulfilling certain duties, but also about expressing love and compassion towards others. Christ is our example. He humbly lived among people, always helping and supporting those in need. Service is our response to what Christ has already done for us.

How can we find our calling in God's Kingdom? First and foremost, it is essential to listen to the voice of God. He is always ready to show us the way; we just need to turn to Him in prayer. James 1:5 encourages us:

James 1:5

"If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him."

Prayer is the key to understanding our calling.

Secondly, explore your talents and abilities. God's gift within each of us is a unique opportunity to serve. Try to ask yourself, where do you feel most comfortable? What abilities do you have? Perhaps you sing well, teach, or offer support during tough times. All of this can form the basis of your service.

Don’t forget about the community. Service often takes place in unity with other believers. Hebrews 10:24-25 calls us to:

Hebrews 10:24-25

"And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching."

Working together with brothers and sisters in faith will help you find your role in God's Kingdom.

Remember, service is not always about grand acts. Even small actions can have a significant impact. Sometimes a simple act of kindness is enough to change another person's life. Be obedient to God and open to His calls in your life.

If you are searching for your calling in service, give yourself time. Don’t rush. God has a plan for each of us, and it’s important to trust His timing. Your role in service may be just what is needed to build God's Kingdom on earth. Remember that you are not alone — God is with you, helping and guiding each of you to fulfill this blessed calling.
