Freedom from Addictions

Addictions can take various forms: from alcoholism and drug addiction to dependence on technology and gambling. Regardless of the addiction we face, it is important to remember that with God's help, freedom is possible.

In

Psalm 34:18

"The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit."

we see that the Lord is always with us, especially when we are going through difficulties.

The first step to rehabilitation is recognizing the problem. When we acknowledge our weaknesses and need for help, we open the door for God's intervention. As it is written in

James 4:7

"Submit yourselves, therefore, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you."

, we must submit to God to gain strength to combat temptations.

The next step is prayer and spiritual support. Communicating with God through prayer, reading the Scripture, and participating in services can provide us with new inspiring strength. In

Matthew 11:28-30

"Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you, and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls."

we receive an invitation from Jesus to come to Him for support.

Equally important is seeking support from others. The mountain of solitude is much harder to overcome. In our church, we have support groups where people can share their experiences and support one another in difficult times.

Ecclesiastes 4:9-10

"Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow."

This verse highlights the importance of community in our recovery process.

True freedom comes when we not only strive to rid ourselves of addiction but also fill that space with something positive and spiritual. In

Romans 12:2

"Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect."

we see that transforming our thoughts and feelings through God's word will help us become stronger in the fight.

Dear brothers and sisters, our salvation and liberation is not an instant process. It is a journey that will require effort, dedication, and time. But as we embark on this journey with the Lord, we are assured that He will never leave us. As reported in

Isaiah 41:10

"Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand."

, He is always with us and will help us in every circumstance.

Let us boldly turn to God together in our difficulties, as He is our reliable refuge and strength for salvation.
