Each of us may face various hardships and temptations in our lives. Addictions can take many forms: from drugs and alcohol to internet addiction and gambling. Representatives of Christ within the charismatic revival movement believe that rehabilitation from addictions is possible only through faith and turning to God.
Often, these addictions may seem incurable, but we know that our Lord is the one who gives us the strength to overcome all difficulties. Let us remember this important truth:
Philippians 4:13."I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."
When we feel that our strength is nearly gone, we should turn to God and ask Him for help. He is capable of changing our hearts and freeing us from everything that binds us. Affirming our faith is the first step on the path to deliverance.
Romans 12:2."And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God."
Another important component of rehabilitation is prayer. When we pray, we open our hearts before God. It is important not just to ask for help but to give thanks for what we have already received.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18."Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you."
Prayer and fellowship with other believers are vital elements on the path to freedom. When we come to church, we receive support and prayers from others. Together, we can strengthen each other in faith and help overcome addictions.
Hebrews 10:24-25."And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching."
For those who are struggling with addiction, it's important to know that you are not seen as a failure. You are beloved children of the Lord, and He is always ready to come to your aid. Your deliverance began the moment you turned to Him in faith. Live in the freedom that God gives and trust Him in every step of your life.
Let us support one another in this endeavor, for together we are strong! Together we can help each other transform and find new life in Christ, free from addictions.
