Faith is one of the most important components of our Christian life. It not only defines our relationship with God but also shapes our perception of the world. Let’s talk about this by referring to Hebrews 11:1-6.
Hebrews 11:1-3"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. For by it the elders obtained a good testimony. By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible."
Here, the Apostle Paul emphasizes the importance of faith: it is the foundation for what we hope for. And what are our hopes? It can be hope for salvation, for help in difficulties, for peace in the heart. Faith is not merely an abstract concept; it is a living reality in our daily lives. Our understanding of the world is based on faith in God's promises.
Further in this chapter, we read that faith gives us testimony. When we believe in God and His promises, our lives become a testament to His greatness and power. Many saints in the past had great faith, which enabled them to endure hardships and persecution.
Hebrews 11:4"By faith Abel offered to God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, through which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts."
This point illustrates how faith can influence our actions. Abel offered God a better sacrifice not due to external circumstances but because his faith was genuine. When we serve God in faith, our deeds become pleasing to Him. This can relate to any area of our life: from serving in church to everyday actions.
Faith is also a path through which we can receive God's blessings. It can lead us to great achievements, as it did with Abraham.
Hebrews 11:6"But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him."
The great truth of this verse is that faith is not just a positive outcome but also an active pursuit of God. If we want to receive a reward from Him, we must actively seek Him. This means we should have a daily practice of faith, pray, study the Bible, and glorify His name. Only through deep faith can we have true communion with our Heavenly Father.
Thus, faith is the foundation of our life as Christians. It shapes our perception of the world, serves as a basis for testimony, and is also a path to receiving God's blessings. A true understanding of faith allows us to grow in the Lord and receive more of His bounty. Therefore, may our faith be alive, active, and consistent, so that we may please God and be witnesses of His glory in the world.
