Dear brothers and sisters, today we will discuss how faith can inspire us to active service. The Bible contains numerous examples of people who not only believe in God, but also actively fulfill His will by serving others.
The first example is Abraham, the father of all believers. His faith had real consequences in the world. When God called him to leave his homeland, Abraham did not hesitate. He trusted that God was leading him to the land He had promised. As it is said in
Hebrews 11:8“By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going.”
This example reminds us that sometimes God calls us to explore new territories of service that may be unfamiliar and frightening. By serving, we demonstrate our faith, showing a willingness to follow Him.
Another wonderful example of service is the story of Ruth. After losing her husband, she refused to leave her mother-in-law Naomi, choosing to stay with her and serve her. As it is said in
Ruth 1:16“But Ruth replied, ‘Don’t urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. Where you go, I will go, and where you stay, I will stay; your people will be my people, and your God my God.’”
This determination and selflessness of Ruth demonstrates how we can serve others even in difficult times. Faith that manifests in action can bring joy and hope to those around us.
We cannot forget the apostle Paul. He became a symbol of service, wholeheartedly carrying God’s Word to the ends of the earth. His experiences and example show how, through faith in God, we can overcome numerous difficulties and trials. As it is written in
Philippians 4:13“I can do all this through him who gives me strength.”
This quote reflects how our faith can empower us to serve, despite challenges. It is important to remember that faith without deeds is dead (James 2:26). Therefore, we must express our faith through active service.
In conclusion, I encourage all of us to contemplate how we can express our faith through service today. Whether it is helping in church, volunteering in our community, or personal service to loved ones – every small act of kindness and service is a step in faith. May the Lord bless us in our efforts!
Let us pray together for strength and wisdom to respond to God’s calling in our lives.
