In our daily lives, we encounter numerous opportunities to help others. Charity and generosity are not just expressions of kindness; they are key aspects of our Christian life. Here, we can pay attention to the words of Jesus Christ found in
Matthew 25:35-40"For I was hungry, and you gave me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave me something to drink; I was a stranger, and you welcomed me; I was naked, and you clothed me; I was sick, and you visited me; I was in prison, and you came to me."
This text not only calls us to help but also shows that our attitude towards others personally affects our relationship with God. Jesus made this parallel, demonstrating that when we serve others, we are serving Him. This teaching is the foundation of our Christian calling.
Imagine a situation: you walk past a person asking for help. And what's more? This person could be represented as Jesus. Jesus indicates to us that actions performed with love and compassion hold great value. As stated in the Bible, everything we do for our brothers and sisters, we do for Christ.
Charity shapes our spirituality and character. When we share with others, we not only gift them but also enrich our souls. It becomes a process in which we can learn about selflessness, love, and piety. True generosity, arising from the heart, has the power to change us. As it is said: "Charity is a feeling of blessing for both the one receiving help and the one giving it."
In our church, we often organize charitable events to help those in need. These can include food programs, financial support for families facing difficulties, or even volunteering outside the church, such as at local shelters or hospitals. As Christians, we should set an example for others regarding how to help, and this is part of our testimony.
Many of us might ask, "How can I become a generous person?" The first thing to understand is that generosity begins in the heart. It is important to bless others openly, without thoughts of repayment. It’s also worth learning to notice the needs of people around us, as we often overlook them due to our busyness.
Don't forget that generosity isn't always measured in money. You can give your time, skills, or resources to help others. We believe that Jesus called us to serve so that we become bearers of His love on earth.
Today, let us open our hearts to generosity. Ask yourself, "Where can I help?". May our actions bear witness to Jesus Christ, who lives in us. And if we act in accordance with His teaching, we can change the lives of many around us. May His love inspire us to charity!
