Today, we hear about addiction problems from all sides. Among youth and adults, this issue is becoming increasingly relevant. Addiction can be to drugs, alcohol, gambling, or even social media. But we know that there is hope and a way out of this predicament — and that is our faith in the Lord!
In the Psalms, we read:
Psalm 85:1-2. These words remind us that our Lord is the one who can free us from our past burdens. He is ready to forgive those sins and understand our weaknesses.“Lord, you were favorable to your land; you restored the fortunes of Jacob. You forgave the iniquity of your people; you covered all their sin.”
At first, it is often difficult to admit your addiction. It may seem like a sign of weakness, but in reality, it is the first and most important step to freedom. Faith in God can give us the strength that nothing else can provide. As it is written:
Philippians 4:13“I can do all things through him who strengthens me.”
The Lord calls us to trust Him, relying on Him in all matters. If you are struggling with addiction, know that this path does not have to be walked alone — you can also seek support from brothers and sisters in Christ.
Many people who have also struggled with addictions have found freedom through the fellowship and support of the church. They have shared their experiences and received strong support in brotherhood. As it is said in Hebrews 10:24-25:
Hebrews 10:24-25“And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.”
Dear brothers and sisters, if you or someone close to you is suffering from addiction, remember: your situation is not hopeless. Through prayer, community, and biblical truths, we can find a path to freedom. Do not be afraid to seek help, for we are called to support one another. Change your thoughts and focus on Christ, and He will find a way to deliver you.
Remember that addiction does not define your identity. You are not your addiction — you are a child of God! And as it is written in 2 Corinthians 5:17:
2 Corinthians 5:17. Your new life in Christ opens the door for a fresh start. Be steadfast in your journey to recovery, and let the Lord lead you to true freedom!“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has passed away; behold, the new has come!”
