In our world, a multitude of different addictions arise that can destroy our lives, families, and even our faith. However, in Christ, there is hope for liberation and new life. Anyone facing addictions—whether it be alcohol, drugs, or even technology dependence—can find a helping hand in God.
Freedom from addictions begins with acknowledging the problem. Often, we try to deny that we have an addiction or simply live in despair, not knowing where to start. But
Psalm 34:18emphasizes that God is always near, ready to extend a helping hand."The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit."
When we accept our vulnerability and begin to seek God, it is important to understand that liberation can be a process. It does not always happen in one day, but every step forward is a victory.
Romans 12:2Here, it is highlighted that changing our mindset is an essential step on the path to freedom."Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will."
God's grace gives us the opportunity to become new creations again.
2 Corinthians 5:17This is a promise that can become our reality if we accept Christ into our lives as our Savior."Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!"
In difficult times, when we feel weak, we should surround ourselves with brothers and sisters in faith. The church community can be a great support on the path to healing.
Ecclesiastes 4:9-10In unity with others, we can find strength."Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up!”
Every new day is an opportunity to choose God and reject addiction. Keep praying, seeking the Holy Spirit for support.
James 1:5The willingness to ask God for help is the first step on the path to victory."If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him."
So do not be afraid to open your hearts, learn to trust God, and surrender your fears and addictions to Him. Your freedom is already close—just step forward, filled with faith and hope.
Get involved in a ministry where you can meet people with similar experiences, listen to testimonies of those who have already achieved victory and have become a testament to God’s grace.
Let us pray together that God strengthens our hearts and hope for liberation.
