As Christians, we are called to love one another. Ephesians 4:32 in the modern Ukrainian translation states:
Ephesians 4:32It is important to understand that love and forgiveness are not just commandments; they are the foundation upon which our relationships and interactions in the church are built."And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you."
In each of our lives, conflicts, misunderstandings, and grievances may arise. Yet, it is in these difficulties that we must remember that forgiveness is an essential gift that helps maintain unity in our community. When we forgive, we not only free others from guilt but also ourselves from the burden of resentment.
Love is an active action. It is not just a feeling but a willingness to act for the good of others, regardless of how they treat us. John 13:34-35 calls us:
John 13:34-35Thus, love becomes a mark of our Christian identity. If we cannot love those around us, how can we love God?"A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another."
Forgiveness is the key to peace and joy in our lives. When we forgive, God can work through us. Matthew 6:14-15 reminds us of this:
Matthew 6:14-15This principle evokes our desire to practice forgiveness daily!"For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses."
May love and forgiveness reign in our hearts and relationships. This will allow us to be a light to those around us, showing an example of how we can live in love for one another.
Reflect on the relationships that require love and forgiveness from you. Maybe you should reach out to someone with whom you have long-standing misunderstandings and express your desire to forgive and restore your connection. Let’s learn from one another how to be kind, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as Christ did.
Pray for wisdom in matters of forgiveness and love, for only Divine strength can help us in this. We are called to live in the freedom that forgiveness offers!
Do not wait for ideal circumstances. Let your love and willingness to forgive be clear and noticeable to others. Stop waiting; show that love today!
