The Holy Spirit grants us various abilities and skills that we can use to serve one another and glorify God. This is a mystery that is revealed only through our interaction with Him and His presence in our lives. Today, we will explore what gifts have been bestowed upon us and how we can utilize them in our ministry.
In
1 Corinthians 12:4-7Paul emphasizes the diversity of gifts that we receive from a single source — the Holy Spirit. This means that each of us is unique in our abilities, and we should value this.“There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but the same God works all of them in all men. Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good.”
Some of the main gifts include: the gift of prophecy, the gift of faith, the gift of healing, the gift of miracles, the gift of speaking in tongues, and the gift of interpretation. Each of these gifts has its specific purpose and should be used for the edification of the church.
For example,
Romans 12:6-8clearly outlines the various categories of gifts and how each of us can contribute to the ministry.“We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.”
Spiritual gifts are not meant solely for our personal needs or desires but for serving others. Each gift is part of a larger picture, the purpose of which is to build up the body of Christ.
Ephesians 4:12emphasizes the importance of ministry and interaction within the church.“To prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up,”
If you do not know what gift you have, do not hesitate to turn to God’s Word and ask the Holy Spirit. Serve others, and you will see how the gifts manifest in your life. And remember, by using your gifts, you are not only serving the church but also becoming part of God’s plan on this earth.
Therefore, develop your spiritual gifts, learn to make your contribution to the ministry, and your church will grow!
I bless you on this journey!
